RR, 2006 The RR is a reactive robot provided with both sonar and infrared sensors.
The Reactive Robot (RR) is a small wheeled robotic platform, used as an exploring module of larger robotive platforms. Due to reduced dimensions, RR can be easily deployed in cluttered spaces in order to keep an exploring of the environment. It is a purely reactive robot, provided with sensor modules. Each sensor module fuses range data coming from a sonar and an infrared sensor, compensating the respective drawbacks. In the latest version, the sensor modules have been replaced with a small range finder. The information gathered during the unconscious exploration of the environment by RR are sent via a Bluetooth channel, to the mother robot, that is provided with a quite longer robot, leading to a deeper knowledge of the environment. Further exploration in some places is requested, the mother robot can directly control RR and its sensors.
